eHarmony UK Review

9.6

The first point of interest is the Trust Pilot reviews – a good insight into a company that cares about its reputation.  They used data from 35 years of marriage counselling research to create their compatibility questionnaire.  They match based on your responses and your self-selects and then send you matches with some degree of certainty.

Ease Of Use

On the home page is a short animated video which explains how the site works – which all makes utter sense.  Complete the questionnaire and they do all the work.  You can then select and communicate with their recommendations with confidence.

Simple straightforward questions to start – which can be refined with a 100 questions version later on once approved.

Photo upload is simple, and lots of chances to enrich your profile.  It is also easy to navigate around the site as it is laid out simply.  Help is up top in your Account box, and as well as the emails sent to your email address, there is an activity tab, which alerts you to what has been going on around your profile – all in one place.  Nothing really happens without a subscription however.  You can look at the matches, and like them, but you only see the basic profile, not the in-depth version, nor the extra photos, nor any messages that your match has sent.

Special Features

Besides the in-depth personality questionnaire and the sophisticated matching system, there are few distractions on the site.  It is clear and easy to follow and is not littered with adverts.

The Match Preferences enable you to customize your matches further, and the more questions you answer in the Profile, the more closely your matches will be compatible with you.  These are emailed to you every day (in one email) and are a manageable number.

There is a mobile app for subscribing members.

Site Safety

eHarmony's safety features

Mention of site safety is right up front – Access to their support team regarding safety concerns is 6 days a week, with a 24 hour email service.  There are also links on the home page to articles on safe first dates.

On the profiles, there is a report, block and hide function.

There is no mention of how profiles are vetted although there are lengthy guides on how to conduct yourself, and how to check for fraudulent behavior.

Customer Support

Help and Customer Care is found within the account section of your profile under HELP, and offers the usual search through FAQs – as well as the 0800 number and an email/chat function.  As well as the FAQs there are articles on safe dating, relation tips as well as many encouraging success stories.

Verdict

A trusted site, with decent members who are engaged in their relationship journey, prepared to pay, and to invest the time in their profiles, and in communicating with the Matches identified for them.  The Site is clear of adverts and simply presents the most suitable members and seems to be relied upon.  There aren’t any gimmicks or complicated ‘extras’ – just straightforward matching.  They are responsible for over 100,000 marriages and 390,000 relationships in the UK and their formula seems to work well.
